Francis M. “Brink” Hinson is an attorney with Finkel Law Firm, LLC practicing out of our firm’s Columbia office. Mr. Hinson practices civil litigation and regularly handles business litigation, medical malpractice, catastrophic personal injury claims. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina and all courts in the state of South Carolina. Mr. Hinson has handled cases in numerous states through pro hac vice admissions, including Arizona, Alabama, Georgia, Connecticut, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas, Wisconsin, and Washington.

Upon graduating from Furman University with his undergraduate education, Mr. Hinson began his work at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Shortly after, he relocated to Columbia to attend graduate school and, subsequently, law school at the University of South Carolina. During his time in law school, Mr. Hinson served on the University of South Carolina's Law Review, competed on the school’s mock trial team, and was a member of the Trial Advocacy Bar. He earned various awards and accolades for his academic excellence, including a dean’s list recognition and the University’s 2004 Karen Lee Award. Mr. Hinson earned an International Masters of Business Administration degree from the Moore School of Business while working on his juris doctorate, graduating at the top of his class. He also worked as a teacher’s assistant in the business school’s statistics department.

After graduating with both his MBA and law degrees, Mr. Hinson worked as a law clerk on the South Carolina Court of Appeals under the Honorable Ralph King Anderson, Jr. In 2007, after completing his clerkship, Mr. Hinson brought his talents to the South Carolina office of a nationally-recognized practice group headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, representing clients located throughout the United States. During this time, he gained invaluable experience appealing cases to South Carolina’s Court of Appeals and arguing before the South Carolina Supreme Court. As recognition for his professional achievements, Mr. Hinson was named one of South Carolina’s Top 40 Under 40 attorneys by the National Trial Lawyers, a prestigious attorney ratings organization. In 2015, he joined the Finkel Law Firm.

Outside of his work at the office, Mr. Hinson occupies a spot on the board of directors for the Contemporaries at the Columbia Museum of Art and the regional board of directors for the American Lung Association. He is an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church and regularly coaches high school and middle school mock trial teams throughout Columbia.
